blk_g20
tomorrow i'm going to buy my first critters. i've got snails and crabs in mind. my tank is a 20H. i was planning to get 5 astrea and 5 nassarius (sp), a few blue leggs, and a few scarlets and maybe a sally light foot. can i also add peppermints and cleaner shrimps at this time? how about the sally and an emerald crab at the same time? would critters overload the bio-filtration like it would when adding too much fish at one time? any suggestions or comments about my list of critters? thanks much in advance. Mnesarchus
Get at least 20 snails and 20 hermits - better to have too many IMO. Link to comment
blk_g20
if i get too many, won't they just starve after they clean up the algea left from the cycle? Link to comment
cmoreash
try to get as few crabs as possible, all they are good for is hair algae IME. For snails, it just depends. I slowly added snails/crabs until they were keeping up with the algae. Link to comment
