This sounds familiar...I cracked the back of my 5 gallon using a diamond bit from Diamond hole saw, switched it out for lexan and tried again. The hole saws work good, you just have to be careful near the end....how long did it take with the dremel? I ended up with 2 one inch drains to my sump with hardly any noise, no stand pipes at all...just a slight gurgling, not bad and I don't even notice....

I would say it took around 45 min. to drill the holes with a dremel. Then the next day my diamond bit hole saw arrived... awsome timeing. o well, works fine right now. no noise.
