Phish
Which do you think is better, making your own, or buying right out of the ocean, and when you buy right out of the ocean do you still need to cycle? Link to comment
killrblue
Why would you buy right out of the ocean? Its free!!! Get a bucket and fill it up. I wouldn't do it. It has contaminants and parasites that can infect your livestock. Link to comment
coralreefengr
Some people have access to filtered NSW. Seems like a reasonable choice. I personally make my own. I don't live near the ocean and all the LFSs mix their salt in the range of 1.022 specific gravity. I like mine higher than that. CRE Link to comment

MrKrispy
Scripps Pier here in San Diego has a spigot so you can just walk up and get free saltwater. I think it is filtered somehow, sandbed or something like that. Instant Ocean still seems a little safer for nano-tanks though. Link to comment
