Snoopy
Can someone please help me with an ID on this little fella? It seems to be an extremely hardy coral as it survived an almost total tank melt down about 6 months ago and has recovered extremely well. It has a hard skeleton like a goni but has between 14 and 21 tentacles on each polyp??? Cheers, Dave http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/http://ww...sh/RedCoral.JPG Link to comment

chufa
can't open the pic. ??? Also, you say these are extremely hardy. From what I've read, while they can tolerate (and perhaps need) an excess of dissolved nutrients (i.e. nitrate) and perhaps even low oxygen conditions, they typically waste away in a year or less and die. They are one of the hardest corals to keep alive. However, I have read interesting theories that this coral may indeed thrive under otherwise undesirable water conditions (high nitrates, phosphates, lots of algae and phytoplankton, low light).
