Rick125
I see on a lot of websites, each coral should be placed certain levels in the tank? How important is this? Link to comment
tinyreef
its importance depends on the intensity of the light, which in turns depends partly upon the distance of the target (hence the varying levels). peeps sometimes place livestock very high (i.e. close to a low light to simulate high intensity) or conversely very low in a high-light system for low-photosynthetic animals. it could also be that it doesn't necessarily relate to lighting conditions. the coral may just need to be placed according to dynamic requirements such as: water currents (respiration), anchor-base (i.e. sand or rock), or nutrient needs (marine snow/bottom). hth Link to comment
