You need a test kit for Calcium and Alk.

I also prefer test kits that have tests for both free and total Ammonia.

Woord to koolaid.

I'd go for either salifert or lamotte for the calcium and alkalinity. I use tetra kits for the others.

I am using Red Sea testing kits for CA and ALK, though I think I want to get the salifert. I wish LFSs would stock Salifert cuz I just want the CA and ALK, but nooooo the only ones I've run into are the red sea kits. They work, but I don't really trust them. Here's why. Yesterday morning I tested the CA in my tank and it read 500+, so I didn't dose with my two part supplememnt. This morning I tested and it read 400, now wtf is going on. I don't have corals yet, but I want this CA issue delt with before I get any so I don't loose em. The Red Sea ALK/PH test works well though.

I've never heard of Lamotte, where can I find this brand?

Peace
