2k3Taco Posted July 4, 2003 Share Posted July 4, 2003 My small (favorite) hermit crab just had his first molting in my tank, so he was huddled in the corner hidden away and recovering. the big hermit, which had never even shown interest in him before, decided to try to eat him. I was watching the tank when the big one rolled the little one over and dove halfway into his shell. Boy was I ####ed! It was REALLY hard to seperate them, i ended up poking the big one with a needle to get him to withdraw. (I was afraid I might hurt the little one if I pulled them apart) I put the big hermit in my aquaclear filter, until I decide what to do with him. If I didnt have somewhere to stick him, I'd see how well his shell protects him against hammers. Im giving him back to the LFS when I go up there saturday. My poor little tiny hermit crab. I think he'll be ok though. It's not like he was going after the little one for his shell - he wouldnt even FIT in that shell - not to mention there's 4 other shells his size and bigger! He's just a bastard! Makes me so angry. Link to comment
