Does increasing water flow increase pH?

Hello Everyone

After 3 months of reading and researching on this forum, i finally got my tank started. It's been running for 6 day's and everything looks fine. My pH was running at around 8.01~8.05 when the lights are on and 7.95~7.98 when it was night. Today i just added an octopus fitting to the bulk head so i can control the water flow. After a few hours (around 4 hrs) i noticed that the pH has increased to 8.15~8.17 pH (which is great since i wanted a pH of 8.2) and still rising when i left my office. Does increasing water flow increase pH? kinda strange to me. Well here is picture of my tank

Enjoy

Well, increased circulation increases gas exchange (aka co2 out and o2 in). There is only so much this does. Your livestock will have greater affects on pH.

The pH issue could also be normal day to day pH swings. Normal swings are common and can be from 8.0 to 8.5 regularly. I'd start to worry if it was to swing beyong those numbers....
