Jahkaya
Do you feel that a 150 HQI and a 55 watt actinic will boil my 20 Gallon Standard? Without a heater my Tank is at 72-74. The Light would only be 3-4 inches above the water with my space constraints and hood. Link to comment
bamann345
I would have 2 fans to help cool the hood. Also with an HQI you need a UV shield between the bulb and the water... Link to comment
Jahkaya
There are two fans that come with the fixture. I just have not had experience with the HQI. Link to comment

apophis924
If you have a fan for cooling you should be good to go. You will get a lot of evaporation but if you are growing SPS that have a high alk and ca++ demand the evaoporation will work in your favor. You can replace the evaporated water with Limewater (kalkwasser) By doing that you can maintian Ca++ and Alk required for your SPS. But as they grow watch the levels because in time they will exceede the limits of kalk, Right now i am using Kalk But i know ion a few years down the road i will have to move up to a Ca reactor to keep up with the sps demand for Ca++ and Alk.
