dad300
I'm going to be starting a 20 gal reef system. Do I need to have the lighting that I would need for corals to get set up and running? Or can i start the set up and tehn add the lighting I need for corals at a later time? Here is what I'm planning 20 gal long dsb (trying to find southdown in Central/ southern NH) Seeded with live sand live rock just a few to start and then make my own. Later Looking to add a PC flourescent 2x 36 watt Would like to have a cuople fish when established Link to comment
Dennis_said
You will need some light to keep the inhabitants of the live rocks alive (if they are alive) but don't need the intense lights you would need w/ corals Link to comment
dad300
so I could start and then add the higher intensity lights when the tank is ready for corals? Link to comment
TiGs
For cycling purposes you dont need lights but like Dennis said if you got any cool hitchhiking corals than you should cycle with some light. Yes, you can upgrade your light when you're ready to add corals Link to comment
