penguin87
i set up a minibow 7 nano yesterday w/ 8lbs. of fiji live rock, a proquatics 50w heater, and a marineland penguin 550 powerhead. if you didn't know, this powerhead is rated at 148 gph. the water sure pumps fast, but is this too much flow? if it is, what can go wrong with the system? cuteios
Is there such a thing as too much flow??? I think having a reallys trong current gives you the ability to keep some coral varieties that those of us with the normal flow rates couldn't even imagine without adding more power. Link to comment
Aware
Depends on what your keeping in it, not all corals like strong flow, some prefer medium/low,if its to much, try redirecting the flow towards the surface, this will reduce some of the flow from the centre of the tank and away from sensitive corals, it helps to oxygenate the water too! cheers Link to comment
penguin87
i plan to start with mushrooms and polyps, so i guess those corals don't prefer a strong current, but they'll be ok, right? if not, i guess i can re-direct the flow. Link to comment
