Soto1220
what is the difference between cured and uncured rock? Link to comment
cuteios
As I understand it uncured LR was just picked off from the ocean given a little brush up to remove dirt and then sold. Whereas Cured LR has gone into a cycling phase of it's own as well as other cleaning methods that get rid of the unwanted passengers in the rock. Using cured LR is suppose to reduce your cycling time since well it's cured/conditoned and doesn't have as many critters as the uncured variety. Link to comment
Soto1220
but i would probably want to buy uncured when my tank is cycled so my tank would have more activity....right? Link to comment
Dennis_said
Uncured isn't always best, take it from me ... go for precured... you get a bunch of life still, not too many unwanted hitchhikers, and etc, etc... cured rock is great too, the life will just grow onto the rock eventually to my understanding Link to comment
cuteios
well if you have a tank that's already cycled I'd think you'd want cured rock. You just don't know what comes with the uncured kind and could be risking the stuff that's already in your cycled tank. Link to comment
