Aside from the bacteria cycle, what else happens during cycle?

OK, I understand the bacteria stuff...but what else happens? I hear there might be a brown diatom bloom and some other algae blooms before it settles down...

 

What should I expect to happen? I'm a week into the cycle and I see little feather dusters appearing now!! Woohoo!

nitrites will spike, do small water changes until they go back to near zero. After that it should be fully cycled, do water test to make sure everything is near zero. You will see all kinds of new growths poping up hear and there after it's fully cycled. There will be alot of Diatoms and Detritus afterwards. Just clean the glass and siphon Detritus.
