Graywolf57 Posted June 16, 2003 Share Posted June 16, 2003 Cheap is the approx $9 for a 13 watt 6500K CF at walmart. Some rework is needed if you want to clean it up but it gives you the bulb, cord, ballast and a makeshift socket for the bulb. I'm new here so others have probably already done this to death. I am in the planning stages right now as well. I dismantled one of these lights to find the socket is integrated into a yellow plastic circular housing with two screw holes that would allow easy mounting to a DIY hood. Also the soft plastic buld holder inside the end of the cover shield slids neatly down the lamp and into the yellow base I mentioned which may work as a nice spash shield for the socket. Just my opinion and I haven't put it to the test yet but will soon. Link to comment
