Physh1
Are you using the biowheel? If so, I'd remove it. Some of us go along with no filters (except for natural ones:D ). You should be fine but I would remove the wheel. Cameron Link to comment
WorldNation
yeh, i dont use the biowheel. i personally think they are over rated, and pointless to have. Link to comment
Lebowski
Word dude. Bio-wheels are pointless. What kind of bio-filtration do you have in your tank currently? I run a penguin-mini on my 29 gal for carbon for any chemical warfare against my sps and lps, softies. Link to comment
WorldNation
only bio filtration i have is my LS and LR. Link to comment
fishbabies
Are Bio-Wheels bad for Nano-Reef aquariums? why are they useless? Link to comment
Zontar
bio wheels tend to produce more nitrate than the hypoxic bacteria in the sand and rock pores are able to metabolize leading to rapid increase in nitrate level in the water which can be quite toxic to corals and anenomes. If you're planning a fish only system than by all means use a bio wheel, they do a great job in eliminating ammonia and nitrite. Link to comment
fishbabies
thank you Zontar...after I posted my question I found hundreds of threads regarding the bio-wheel issue and felt instantly retarded for asking the question AGAIN. But now I am glad I did cuz I am impressed with your short and lucid answer. Well said! Link to comment
