a novice
Hello everyone, At this time, the complete hood(incl fans, etc) is cheaper than the retrofit at hellolights.com.(97 for complete, 120+ for retro)Personally, I don't like the looks of the hood, so I would like to incase it in a oak canopy. Does anyone see any problems with this? I figure that if heat becomes a problem I'll just add some extra fans. Also I would make the canopy with an open back to maximize the air flow. Thoughts? TiGs
Go for it. You will definately need an open back for the canopy for air circulation. Link to comment
basa90
How tall is the canopy? how much room will be between the fixture and the top of the hood?Keep in mind the fans suck down then blow up, not left to right. Link to comment
a novice
Well, the canopy hasn't been made yet, so I can make it however tall I need it. Do you think that there will be enough room over a 10g for the 96w and a small actinic? I like a very 'blue' tank and I'm not sure that the 96 watt 50/50 will be blue enough. Also, I would like dawn/dust lighting. Thoughts? Experiences? Thanks for everything... this place in an invalueable resource. Link to comment
basa90
I would put at least 4 inches between the coralife and the canopy. Yes you should be able to fit a couple 13w actinic retro kits. I would put them in the front and have the coralife in back for better ventalation. Try hellolights.com Link to comment
