h2o
can a protein skimmer be too big for a tank. I'm considering the red sea prizm which is rated for a 4oo L tank or a tunze which is rated for a 150 L tank. The tank I'm considering is 100L. They don't sell the CPR backpacks in Australia. If any has used any of these skimmers your opinions would be great. Link to comment
Vincerama
Hmmm...I bought a Red Sea Prizm for my 10g tank! They advertise that they are good up to 90-100g. I've heard that they aren't actually good for that big a tank. 4L ~= 1g? So your 100L ~= 25g. I think that the prism should be just the right size for your tank! V Link to comment
h2o
Vincerama Does the Red Sea Prism do a good job on your tank? Is it user friendly? Is it quiet? Sorry for the ?s but I just want to know if it was worth buying. thanks Link to comment
Vincerama
Sorry, I don't know yet! Do a web search...make sure you get one with an 18 fin impeller, I hear that the original ones are loud. Mine is still in the box as it awaits my tank setup! Use the search feature on this site... V Link to comment
Nepthea
I have the Prizm on my 29G. It has the 18 blade impeller, and it is at an acceptable noise level. My tank is in my living room, so some noise is ok. If your tank is in a bedroom, it might be a little too noisy. My .02 worth. Nep:P Link to comment
