QuickFilter's for Powerheads, Do you use/recommend them? or nice versa?

Hi peeps,

 

Im still in the planning phase for my 10g nano, but im curious as to how effective a Quickfilter attachment will be for my Hagen 201 powerhead?

 

How often do you need to clean them out... or do you have to get a new cartridge everytime?

I wouldn't use one. Will cause more problems and isnt necesssary.

I don't use one but I wrap a filter around the intake of a spare powerhead. I have used this in my battles with hair algae. I blast the hair algae off the rock then pull it out with the powerhead filter. I only really run the filter for an hour or so when I do this. If you ran the filter constantly then you may develop high nitrates from crud collecting on the filter. Do a search on bio-ball, wet/dry filters for more info on this possibility. I have not experienced this problems but then I don't run a mechanical filter constantly.
