CeeTee
This way I could dose Kalkwasser without a drip. Would this work or is it too dangerous? Link to comment
tinyreef
i wouldn't recommend that, even if the resulting 5g is for an auto top-off. i'm not sure where the pH would end up but you can test it after you mix the two. if it isn't super high (i.e. pH 8.8<) then i guess it wouldn't result in an instantaneous meltdown. X) if you're using that to do wc's then i definitely wouldn't recommend doing that. kalk isn't something you want to mess around with on big tanks let alone little ones. Link to comment
c_k_kuehne
I use slightly less than 1/8 tsp. kent kalwasser powder in 1 gal of RO/DI water. I then use that to topoff. I don't have an auto topoff. I topoff either once or twice a day manually and add the water into the HOB so it gets mixed a little before entering tank. I would think that the dilution would be great enough to use the 1 in 5 ratio you mentioned. WOuldn't do it for water changes but topoff would probably work out fine. Link to comment
