Rootsayia
greetings, i had a few questions for anyone to answer.....please well let me tell you what i have, i have a Alife 7gallon tank, which includes all in one filter system power head 180l/h built in bio filter, bio ball, surface skimmer as for the lighting system its a 27w pl lamp set with acrylic shell and it has a cooling system which consists of built in twin 6cm cooling fans. Oh and a water heater an Ebo. As for inside the tank; 10 lbs of Live sand and 8 lbs of Fiji Live rock. The tank is only 5 days old. So now my question is how long do i have to wait before i can start adding corals and things? and umm, what kind? any reply will greatly be appreciated! Link to comment
Physh1
You need to test the water to see where you are in the cycle process. Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH, and Alkalinity are the basics you'll need to be looking at. You will want to wait at LEAST 1.5 weeks more before I'd add anything to the tank. Cameron Link to comment

Mnesarchus
Optimal levels are Ammonia: 0ppm (Undetectable) Nitrate: 0ppm (Undetectable) Nitrite: 0ppm (Undetectable) Calcium: 450ppm Alkalinity: 3.5meq/L pH: 8.2-8.4 Specific Gravity: 1.024 Temp: Varies I like mine at about 80f I like Seachem or Seatest kits best. They arent insanley priced and deliver results quickly. Link to comment
blissdon
My best advice is to go slowly. Don't add too much too soon. If you are really new to nano reef keeping you might want to take a look at a couple of books. Don't use tap water... Buy distilled water until you can buy a reverse osmosis unit. Believe me, tap water will screw up everything... Kenny Link to comment

Billdemart
If you are buying your water at Publix by the gallon which do you think is better 1) Distilled Water 2) Purified Water (DeIonized) Link to comment
