proboscis Posted June 25, 2003 Share Posted June 25, 2003 i run a mag 7 in my 20g sump to a 1/4 inch sea swirl for return to my 29 and i would like moreflow than the mag 7 so i added 2 maxi- jet 600's on a wave maker and its perfect. lighting is 150 hqi radium de i wll post pics if my freind would bring camera over Link to comment

Gunfury Posted July 18, 2003 Share Posted July 18, 2003 I use a Mag 3 for a 30gal return - rise is about 3 feet total. The top flow is weaker then I expected even though the pump is rated at ~250 gal/hr at that head. I supplement the return with 3 min-jet 404's slaved to a wave master pro. Since the return is so weak I might replace it with a mag 5 since the foot print on the 5 is the same as the 3. Oh yea not sure if you guys knew this but I found a mag 5 marketed as a "pond pump" at a local petstore for $35. LFS wanted $89 I would recommend the Mag 5 over the 3 ... Link to comment
