T-Dawg
Hi, I have a 10 gal marine tank set up. It's been cycling with 8 pounds live rock & 1 tank raised clown for 3 weeks now. A couple of days ago diatoms formed on the substrate. My water tests appear fine (ie amonia, although the color codes aren't the best). Today I bought a cleaner shrimp. He died within 10 minutes! Did I rush my decision to add an invert? Link to comment
Pikelet
Have you tested for copper or used copper in the tank before? Link to comment
T-Dawg
Thanks for the reply. I've never used copper in the tank. I guess I should test for it. If it shows I have no clue how it got their. Any other suggestions on why it would die so fast? (Stress? Acclimatation?) Link to comment
seabass
Maybe you rushed it a little. Have you checked your Nitrates? Most shrimp do not do well with high levels of Nitrates. That might also explain your diatom bloom. btw - High Nitrates indicate that your cycle has probably completed. Now you need to do a series of water changes to get rid of the Nitrates.
