I think i have heard somewhere i need to put something under the sand to stop anerobic spots. is this true if so what do i use, is it essencial as my sand and rocks are already in. thanx. onthefly Posted June 7, 2003 Share Posted June 7, 2003 I have a DSB and a plenum(dead space under the sand). I've talked to a few peeps with draining lines and other stuff to flush the plenum out, but from my experieince, this is not need! And it's supposed to remove hydrogen sulfide, but I think all it does is force oxygenated water into the plenum, causing it to have to re-establish itself as hypoxic. Since you have the sand and rock in........let it go! Link to comment
