myelin
THe LFS advised me to use crushed coral and no sand. I kinda like the look of the sand vs. just CC. What to do? The CC is cheaper than LS. Link to comment
Dennis_said
I think you can combine both for a better push on everything Link to comment
harbingerofthefish
What size tank? IMO use sand. You don't have to buy Live Sand. The rock will make the sand live. Link to comment
Crakeur
if you use both, the crushed coral will end up on top and the sand will settle below it. Personally, I like the sand look better but I seeded my sandbed with my old crushed coral (tons of life in there). Once the tank is running for about a month or so, I will scoop out the cc. I set it up on Sunday and already I see worms in the sandbed below the cc. Link to comment
myelin
It is going in a 12 gallon Eclipse tank. Hmm... Link to comment
wingsfan
i'm going with just sand in my 20 Link to comment
harbingerofthefish
the tank size thing was because if you were setting up a larger tank (30 gal or so) you would have more room for mixing the two. As crak said, the cc will raise up and the sand will settle. esp. in a small tank were there is not a lot of room the mix it around. Kinda defeats the purpose of sand at all. Link to comment
