Little Fish

Hey I want to start a nano reef, but I am getting so many mixed messages...I want to run a 7 gallon, but need a little more input, before I start her up. I have some experience with this sort of thing, but have heard a nano is way harder to keep than a large tank...please any advice would be helpful...even tips on where to find good start up kits. Thanks a bunch! ???

Welcome to the boards Little Fish.

Nano's aren't harder - but they are much less forgiving than a larger tank. Consequently, they can also be much more rewarding.

well, you've taken the first step, and everything in your post is correct. The smaller it is, the more difficult and the more vigilant you have to be. 7 is a great tank in my biased opinion :D Click the link in my signature to see my 7 gallon and go to http://www.minibow.com to see lots more. Gilman made that web site, and his web page is a great source for 7-gal specific information - http://www.oc-creative.com/reef.

First: research.

Second: decide what you want to keep.

Third: decide what you need to keep it.

7 is great because it's beautiful and easy to light esp if you're not interested in clams and SPS. Slap a 32w retrofit on that baby and you're all set.

After starting steps one and two, we'll be able to help you more...there's lots of great general information on this website (CHECK OUT THE ARTICLES ON THE INFO PAGE ;)) and once you know what you want, you'll get much more helpful advice.

Welcome to NR!
