You can go with a tank as small as 10gallons. It doesn't have to be fancy you can get away with an hob filter with some type of bio media, heater, light to give them anywhere between 12-16 hours of light on a timer and a flower pot/ tile for them to lay eggs. Feed them heavily 2-3 times per day, and be patient. Sometimes they can take anywhere between 1-2 years to mature before they start spawning, but if you buy a spawning pair from someone, I've heard someone having them spawn the same day they transferred the pair, but I've had pairs take 3 months to restart spawning. Pick this book up, it was recently released.
