Shy cleaner shrimp

So my friend has a cleaner shrimp and as soon as you stick your finger in it comes out like crazy and starts to clean you. granted I realize it takes time. you can't just introduce a shrimp to a new environment and expect it to be all friendly... but he's so shy. He doesn't hide out back, but on the side of my rock and he'll touch his antennas to me but won't move when i stick a finger in to move around some rock or coral.

 

How do you tell a cleaner shrimp you want to be friends?

I would make an attempt at tasting better.

 

Hold a single flake of food in your hand. Food > Shy in most cases.

Just give it time. Mine was shy at first, but now, after 6 months, is the most aggressive creature in my tank.

I have a feeling the food trick will definitely work. I used to be afraid of my shrimp because he would chase my hand around when I had to fix rock work. I didn't even hand feed him

if i leave my hand still for more than 2 seconds mine attacks my hand, it scared the bejesus out of me the first time....he doesnt hurt or anything, its actually pretty cool
