jimpruitt
At the LFS I was told that an olive snail would be a good sand sifter for my 5.5. I usually don't buy anything based on the LFS's recommendation alone, but I did because they seemed pretty cool. Did I waste my money? Will it do any good or harm? Link to comment
LikemyRams
Is a nassarius snail mine are always digging through the sand http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Di...=23&pCatId=1133 Link to comment
john76
My olive nerite snails from florida pets actually do burrow in to the sand from time to time. Great addition I'd say.....Nassarius snails are better as far as sand sifting, but they don't eat algae. The only problem is that olive nerites tend to climb out of the aquarium. As a precaution I've got egg crate on top of my 55 and my 5.5 that stops them from doing this. Link to comment
c_k_kuehne
The Olive snails I have are fairly large 1 1/2" -- 2" long. They stay buried all the time. I only know they are still alive cause they come out of the sand for about 2 min maybe once a month. Link to comment
