junglejim83
What sized bulk head should i use for my scwd. I figured i would do a bulk head for return for a below the tank refuge what size would should that be you think? the outputs for the scwd are 3/4 inch. Also, I am going to drill the tank myself what type of drill bit should i use and how would the drill bit size correlate to the bulk head size. Thanks. Jim Link to comment
DAP
since the outlets are 3/4 on a SCWD, I would use 3/4" bulkhead fittings. The size of the hole will be determined by which brand and pipe schedule BH fitting you purchase. A 3/4 schedule 80 BH fitting and a 1" schedule 40 BH fitting can use the same size hole. Which is 1-1/2" IIRC. The BH fitting will usually come with a sticker or documentation indicating what hole size to use. If you are drilling acrylic a standard hole saw for wood will work, just go slow so you dont melt the acrylic. If you are drilling glass, a diamond tip hole saw will be needed. Drilling glass takes a little skill, in 10 holes I have only broke glass once. That was because I got impatient, which is a BIG no no. HTH Link to comment
