Hey,

I have a 10 gallon reef tank.

I have a hang on the back filter (no carbon) made for a 10 - 20 gallon tank.

I also have a small pump that cam from a 5 - 10 gallon filter which I added.

The questions:

Should I have both of those in my tank?

Should they be on the same side of the tank (make one big circular water movement) or on oppisites of each other (makes circulation that meets in the middle)?

Also I was thinking of haveing the little pump on a timer and having it on for maybe 6 hrs then off for 3 hrs or so. Is this good or will it not be good and if so what should the hrs on and off be?

Thanks,

Nicholas

Yes, most people use both.

I wouldnt worry about the timer...unless you wanted to add another powerhead and have them work on opposingshifts..

I would place them so that there is a "meeting point"...not just one big flow.

Thanks I was thinking on moving the pump to the other side.

So if I got another small pump and had them in different parts of the tank and had one going a certain amount of time and then have that one turn off and the other turn on.

Would that be good or not?

Is it worth doing something like this???

Thanks,

Nicholas
