SeaFish
I have heard urchins are bad for small tanks because of their bulldozing skills. My question is i have also heard and was told royal urchins are reef safe and do not cuase as much destruction as other ones available. Is this claim true? what do you guys think about this "royal urchin"? should i get one or should i not to take care of some algae problem? Link to comment
JPF
I have an urchin in each of my nanos and they are far less trouble than the hermits at knocking things over. I have a Hawaiian, black spiney and a tuxedo. Very interesting to watch. Dont know about the Royal urchin. Link to comment
FlyGTI
If my memory serves, Royal = Tuxedo. Big ball, no spikes per se, blue patches in between the bands of feelers? Link to comment
SeaFish
they are the same, but how reef safe are they? how much did you guys purchase it for anyway? Link to comment
Mnesarchus
Stay the hell away from urchins. They grow too fast and their poop is worse than algae to clean up. Not worth the trouble. Cool looking yes, but helpful no. Link to comment
