TheCurriculum
Zoo's, shrooms, and ric's is it possible to have 2 much light for them? I feel silly asking this but just had to ask Example tank pulled out of thin air 2 gallon tank with 39 watts of light (50/50 setup) I know the motto is more light more light I just wanted to make sure that of those 3 none would shun having 2 much light I seen a few post about some softies need slow flow and low light. One last question about light Does Live rock need light? I know this sounds silly but I thought the coralline algae needed at least some light? I ask because I went to a LFS last night and one of the guys said he had LR in his sump which was in the cabinet with no light... :| So so much to learn..... Link to comment
Rocket_155
even tho some ppl will disagree here but, there is something known as too much light for some corals. Although its rare (it does happen) you can infact burn the poylps on some corals. Zoo's, shrooms, rics can handel most ranges of light form high intensity lighting (eg 150mh on a 7g ) to low lighting (eg basic fluro setup on a 7g minibow). Link to comment
Crakeur
you can have too much light. as for light and live rock, there are critters on the rock that like the light and critters that don't. Link to comment
WorldNation
would 41 watts of 50/50 lighting be aight for a 10 gallon?...with thoe same corals? Link to comment
TheCurriculum
So then I take it coralline algae can grow in the dark? A lot of the other life no. ....................................................... WorldNation, From previous post that I have read ... 4 Watts per gallon is fine for zoo's and rics a lot of people have had great results Just look at the meber tanks with minibows for example with 1x32w over 7 gallon Link to comment
Raise
Yes you can have too much light. Itd have to be something wild though. LR doesnt require light, but Id think it better if it did i.e. more coralline. Link to comment
