is it an anenome or a harmless coral?

Sorry, I couldn't get a good angle on the thing.

It's clear with white ball like ends which I think are sticky (I once poked it with a turkey baster and one of the arms stuck to it for a little bit). Sort of looks like a clear court jester's hat.

Yesterday I gave it a mysis shrimp (via the turkey baster) which it took and about an hour later, the shrimp was encased with something thin and clear, as if the thing had turned itself inside out in order to eat it.

Is it good? Is it bad? Should I kill it? And how?

My new clown goby likes to perch on the rock its on and I'm afraid this thing will eat it like it did the shrimp yesterday!

Well, the ball ends and stickiness also suggest a Corynactis/Pseudocorynactis corallimorph, a.k.a. "fish eating anemone." :) Do a search here for those terms and you will find some helpful threads.

Diane's got it nailed down.

Thats exactly what it is. :)

Should I kill it? And if so, how?

Corynactis are harmless. MAYBE if it got bigger, but generally those little clear ones like yours pictured stay small, like fingernail-size. HARMLESS, non-photo little HH's that mean no harm. And they're CUTE! BE NICE! LOLOLOLOL
