HogWinslow
I just got done building a hood for my 10 gallon tank. It has 2 13 watt power compact bulbs. I now realize that there is enough room to add a 15 NO bulb. Do you think I should? Any suggestion on what brand and type? With the 2 PC's the tank isn't that bright. Is it ok to run a regular soft white bulb from Wal-Mart? Or will this cause lots of algae? I was thinking of one of those Daylight bulbs from Wal-Mart. Any oppions will be aprecaiteed. Physh1
Sure....if you got the room go for it. You didn't mention your current light combo (spectrum wise) so I can't tell ya what to run but I would only buy aquarium specific bulbs. Non aquarium bulbs often have non-reef friendly spectrums that can yield mucho algae. Daylight bulbs are best in the 10,000 k range but can go as low as 6500 k....anything lower will be problematic.
