United_Poseidon
I have got this neon green candy cane coral in my tank that I have place way up on my highest rock. About three weeks ago I got a blue legged hermit crab that is about the size of a super bounce ball (about 1”diameter). I am constantly finding him perched on top of the candy cane. I don’t know if he is eating it or what. I pull him off and put him back at the bottom and a couple hours later he is right back up there. My question is, will him sitting up there all the time damage the coral and why is it only the blue legged ones that do this? Link to comment
DudE31
blue legs = bastages ... and he could possibly just be eating algae etc that is around the coral ... or he may be checking it out ... if you notice tissue damage etc .. then ditch the crab but in most cases if they are eating it its because the coral is going down hill ... imo blue legs are not that reef safe but fun to watch ... stick with red legs or scarlet if you want a hassle free hermit Link to comment
