Bury Feather Duster?

I just picked a giant feather duster and tucked him in my aquascape and it pops out between of a few rocks. My question is i was wondering if I could bury him in the sand bed a little bit and have him still out about a half inch or so?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

IT WILL WANT TO ADHERE ITSELF TO A ROCK........IT MAY EVEN LEAVE ITS CACOON AND LOSE ITS CROWN........ALL OF MINE DID THIS AND SLOWLY DIED........WASN'T SURE WHY AT THE TIME, BUT MY TANK WAS NEW AT THE TIME.
