The ballast is a small black aluminum box with carrying handle and on/off switch and quick disconnect plugs from reflector to ballast. This is an electronic ballast for 150 watt double ended bulbs. This retro kit was only used for 2 weeks. The bulb that comes with this retro is made by catalina aquarium. This bulb can be replaced with name brand bulbs like ushio, xm, etc... The bulb is 10K, it is actually brand new never used. The retro kit was used for 2 weeks with a different bulb. Link to comment
