Monkeyrobb
While I was out of town for a week, the power to my shop went out. I have a 24g nano in my office with a mantis and a damsel. One of my guys was on top off duty since I don't have an ATO for that tank yet. I show up this morning and my pump is spitting air, there's an extension cord running out of my door to the shop next door, and no sign of the damsel. Temperature is 73. I did see my mantis running around so that's the good news. I replaced the evoporated water and called the power company. I called my guy and he hadn't gone to the shop since Friday. He said the damsel became dinner for the shrimp. I'm still not sure who ran the extension cord to the tank, but I'll have to thank them. Meanwhile the tanks at home seem fine. A little dirty, but everyone survived. Robb Link to comment
Monkeyrobb
**UPDATE** I learned some more about the near disaster. When my guy went to the shop and the power was out, the tank temp was 53! The damsel was still swimming but no looking so good. The next day my guy saw the Mantis eating the fish. I'm not sure if it died because of the temperature or was smashed in the head. Daemonfly
Most likely the temp drop. Sounds like he dropped the ball on checking on the tank over the weekend though. Link to comment
