Six
mucus could just be it's slime coat reacting so something in the water or on the fish. does the fish have ich or anything similar on it? if the fish just has hazy skin it's trying to take care of an issue itself. also, check your ammonia levels. it maybe trying to slough off an irritant that is part of the waters quality. i wouldnt dip until youve figured out these questions. then if you still dont know, try it. tap water, adjusted to temp and pH/KH to be the same as the tank. 5 minute dip. gsechen
No ick, has white stringy poop, not really eating, just swims hard against the front of tank right next to glass against the current...swims up top, middle, bottom, strange behavior I say. He seems to be breathing somewhat hard as I see his little mouth open and close as he is swimming. No discolration just some mucus oh his sides...I will take a pic soon. tahnks Link to comment
Six
id test for ammonia and nitrite as well. white stingly poop can be a sign of internal parasites. is the fish tank raised? Link to comment

Six
looks like it (you can tell from it's clean morphology and clean coloration). the fish looks fine from the photo. may just need "cleaned" for internal parasites via some medicated food. http://www.freewebs.com/sixyreef/aquariumfishhealth.htm here's a link to my site where i give directions for medicated food use. i'd use Praziquante or another anti parasitic med for food use.
