SeaFish
is there any thing bad about over dosing Mg? how does it affect fish and corals? Link to comment
HuBu
theres nothing wrong. its actually good to dose Mg, helps you Ca stay Ca, instead of precipating out. Link to comment
SeaFish
thanks for quick reply, but would it be detrimental if overdosed? Link to comment
tinyreef
like anything else, too much of something turns it into poison. "at what level does mg turn lethal for your livestock?" is something i don't know and wouldn't want to test out. i would guess you could approach 1400~1600 ppm based on it's relationship with calcium but that's really an advanced question for rhf (reefs.org's resident chemist) or someone similar to answer. i usually just dose according to the mfg rec's and adjust by freehand depending on how each individual system looks (specifically gauging coralline spotting/growth). hth Link to comment
flaunt
here's some info on magnesium: http://www.animalnetwork.com/fish/library/...a&RecordNo=2856 it's an article by Randy-Holmes Farley, who mods a forum over on reefcentral.com. might want to ask him any questions after doing a search over there!
