HogWinslow
Since I live in Florida why can't I go out and get some live sand on my own? I've been told that the sand in Florida is silicate and we don't want that? Is that true? What's the difference? Live sand is really expensive in my eyes. But if that's your filter it's still cheaper than a store bought filter. Just wondering what the difference in sand is. Thanks. HogWinslow Link to comment

Christopher Marks
Not only is it illegal without proper licenses, you don't want to use that sand anyways. There's simply too much pollution in *most* areas to make it a risk worth taking. Just start off with a dead sand bed and get one cup or livesand from a local hobbyist, or a store. Link to comment
