stonepran
Hi, I'm looking at a smaller skimmer to put in my sump (Due to stand size) for my 29g nano. I've found this http://www.cpraquatic.com/products/skimmers.html#SR and looking at the SR2. I've noticed though the SR2 skimmer has some sort of gas chamber, with some pastic string material. Is this acting like bioballs? I was planning on using no bioballs and letting my LR due the biological although will this string cause similar problems like BIOBALLS? Also, could I just remove all this string and still use the skimmer ? Thanks! Link to comment

onthefly
That stuff is called "bio-bale"! I think balls are out and bale is in with all the cool kids this season. You want to yank it! Are going to have enough bioload to really utilize a larger skimmer? Link to comment
