robertmun
Anybody know the right, SAFE way to drill a 1" hole in my acrylic tank for a bulkhead fitting? Thanks, Robert Link to comment
PEZZ
You can run your drill backwards at high speed and melt the acrylic, but start with the smallest bit you have and then work yourself up to the size you need. I've done two tanks this way with no problem. Link to comment
wetworx101
That is how I used to do it, but even better, go to ebay and buy the 5 piece diamond hole saw kit for $50 that includes a 1" bit that would cut acrylic like butter. Link to comment
blufrogu
you can buy a drillbit that has the center drill piece which will anchor it in place. i did mine ok with a 3/4" hole. i drilled with short intervals, so that the plastic wouldn't get too hot. if it gets caught, reverse it a little. basically don't try to force it and/or melt the acrylic. robertmun
Thanks. I just ended up using a plain old hole saw bit and did it slowly, occasionally dipping the bit into water. It worked fine. Robert Link to comment
