Foogoo
I was yanking out some hair algae the other day when I accidentally yanked the leg off a mini brittle star that was hiding in the algae. It's only one of a good couple dozen but I'm just wondering will they regrow it or is it doomed? Link to comment
Physh1
if it doesn't become infected (not likely but possible) it'll grow back....just takes time. Cameron Link to comment
Nishant3789
so if brittle stars reproduce like starfish, if i cut a brittle star in half would it regeneate? provided that it didnt get infected? i dont think ill do it it sounds sorta nasty, i mean coprals its one thing but a moving animal is too weird, anyways if not, can they reproduce in a reef tank? nishant Link to comment
skeletor
Hey Foogoo, they are pretty tough, we used brittle stars in some of the class touch tanks at the Birch Aquarium and we always ended up with a few 3 and 4 leg brittle stars. The legs are kind of slow to grow back but it should be fine. I got a free brittle star with some GSP's I got from the LFS today :-) Link to comment
