BigReefer Posted April 7, 2003 Share Posted April 7, 2003 Hey guys, im setting up a nano tank and i added my live sand before i check the gravity.... The livesand was in my tank with a gravity of 1.008 for about 45 minutes untill i went and got a gravity meter... did i kill off my live s and, or should it still be ok to use?!?!? Also is it okay to cycle my tank with just the live sand and no live rock yet??? Its a 12 Gallon and i have 20 lbs of live sand. (if its still alive! ) Thanks all. Link to comment
lizbeth Posted April 7, 2003 Share Posted April 7, 2003 well.....it's already happened so don't sweat it and learn from your mistake. Your take really won't have a full cycle until you get your rock. There maybe a small cycle now depending on the life/dieoff in the sand. Link to comment

And any critters that were in there were put through an osmotic nightmare. Get your rock now and cycle the whole tank at once. Link to comment
