Tyrsdottir
I was looking at the various kinds of shrimp, and I saw at least 2 or 3 other kinds that look just like the Peppermint shrimp, and these other kinds are NOT recommended for reef tanks! Nowhere can I seem to find info on how to tell which is which. Does anyone know, or are we basicly at the mercy of the vendor? Link to comment
DRoy1124
camel shrimps (not reef safe) have veritcal white strips with a pointy back. peppermints have horizontal white stripes with a smooth back. google camel shrimps, then peppermint shrimps and you will beable to notice a difference. lgreen
Peppermint Shrimp (reef safe, generally): Camel Shrimp (not reef safe) Obvious difference between the two is the clear/red vs. white/red. Link to comment
aquaman7
In the January (at least I think it was January, it may have been December) issue of Tropical Fish Hobbyist they were discussing peppermint shrimp and their ability to control aiptasia in a "control critters" article, anyway they pictured a camel shrimp. Did anyone else see that? It made me chuckle. Link to comment
