Neal M
i just finished my new canopy, and just installed a PC fan to cool the lights. everything went great, except for one thing. the damn fan is so loud that i just dont think i can live with it. i got the cheapest one at compusa, i think its an evercool brand. I may install a different brand and was wondering what brand people have had success with as far as noise goes... thanks to all for any advice or insight on this Link to comment
LEEWINK
hi there, you could do what i have, just pick up a multi volt adaptor, mine runs from 3-12v with about 6 settings, mine were noisy, so i just turned them down a tad, can't hear them now. cheers lee :) :) Link to comment
Neal M
i did consider that. unfortunately the 3v-12v variable adaptor was 37 bucks in radio shack! i also considered putting in a different fan. i will try an antec next. dont you have a lot less air flow if you switch to the lower volt setting? anyone else do this? comments please from you do-it-yourselfers Link to comment
LEEWINK
yep, you get lesser output of air, but more important noise. My simple answer is what ive done, fit two 80mm fans where one would be ample, so halving the noise and keeping the air flow. I'm in england so i cant really say on a cheaper place for adaptors, mine here are £10.00 or roughly $14.00. cheers lee :) :) Link to comment
