proping finger leather

I have an approx. 13" green finger leather that I got almost 2 weeks ago. I have several questions.

 

 

How long from putting it into the tank should I wait before fragging?

How large of pieces do i need to cut it into?

I've seen else ware that you can cut it off and push it into the sand until it fastens, is that true?

I have a 55 gallon how much toxins will it produce?

What is the best thing to cut it with?

 

This is my first fragging. (Really nervous!!)
