My Sea hair is a Retard

I Have a 24g Nano-cube with a surface skimmer. Now my sea hair keeps crawling into the surface skimmer and gets stuck to the intake grate. Now I have cut two notches into the side of the surface skimmer and put an abs bar across the top there is a gap from the bar to the wall about the width of the teeth in the skimmer he is squeezing between that and becoming stuck again.

 

Im going to make a wider bar this should work. Has anyone else had this problem.

 

It takes him about 2 hours to recover from crawling in the skimmer.
