I decided to finally take a step into the big reef tank and upgraded from a 24 Nano Cube (below):

Sorry, the pics are kinda crappy due to a crappy old digital camera.

The tank has been up since October 2006, but so far, so good.

Lighting: Two 250W metal halides, three 65 watt power compacts with actinics.

Filtration: Overflow into custom berlin sump with Euroreef CS100 in sump skimmer (awesome, pulls out some pretty stinky green crap out of the water)

Circulation:

* Two RIO 1700 in tank pumps

* Two Seaswirls

* RIO 2500 return pump

Corals/invertebrates:

* Branching hammers

* Purple sea whip

* Blue, green and red shrooms

love the aquascaping, you did a great job!

do you mind sharing how you did it? are they simply stacked, or did you epoxy/drill holes/etc to make those caves?

Thanks! The live rocks are simply stacked . . . the base pieces are fairly large and the caves are formed with curved pieces stacked on top. The tangs love swimming through the caves and hiding in them. :)
